All Inclusive Cruise Vacations are they Value for Money?

Written by admin on May 10th, 2009

Cruise vacations can discourage potential buyers especially when it comes to budgeting for it.  But needn’t worry as a lot of cruise lines offer some fantastic all inclusive cruise deals.

But What Is All Inclusive? See below:

The cruise industry, when it started, did its marketing on the concept that they were all-inclusive. This meant that your accommodations were taken care of, your food was taken care of, there were things to do that you didn’t have to pay for onboard the ship. If you were on a land-based vacation, you would often have to pay for all your meals, and the restaurants. Today, we can talk about cruises as being all-inclusive because all of those things are still true. However, there’s a lot of things that are not included - alcoholic beverages are not included, spa services are not included, and if you want to be in the casino and gamble, that’s also your own dime. There’s value there but in terms of all-inclusive, it’s important for the consumer to understand that there’s a certain number of costs and value that they get in booking a cruise, unlike a land vacation. However, there may be additional expenses as well.

There are many good and bad things to be aware of before booking you all inclusive cruise vacation. Before making that final decision it better to make sure you have weighed out the deals and as always make sure you read the small print!

Below I have ordered the good and bad things that you need to be aware of below:

Advantages:

  1. Knowing up front what all the costs of your cruise will be in advance.
  2. The freedom to eat and drink potentially as much as you want.
  3. Entertainment is laid on free of charge in a lot of cases.

Disadvantages:

  1. Beware of some things that may be not included in the all inclusive deal, you may get a nasty surprise. For example, some alcohol beverages may not be included in the deal.
  2. Part of the fun of a cruise is trying different things and food is included in that. You may be missing out on some real cultural treats.
  3. Although some entertainment is included in the all-inclusive deal it might not be of the best quality. Once again you may be missing out on some real cultural treats as far as entertainment on board your cruise ship goes.

Remember to work out the cost against an all inclusive deal and how much it would cost if you paid as you went, make sure you take into consideration the food with the all inclusive package and if there is a good variety of food to select from.

It will still be a good idea to take extra cash with your self as always you may catch something you fancy. This is a tough decision to make but its important to get it right, make sure not to just fall into the all inclusive package without evaluating your needs such as the entertainment that will be provided. For a lot of people this will be a cruise of a live time so its very important to spend the cash right so you get as much as possible from every cent you spend!
